Default New Knife

Well, I didn't get my RC-4, but I did get this:

It's a Ka-Bar Campanion. Built like a brick sh!thouse. 1095 Cro-Van carbon steel, Rockwell rating of 57. Good for anything from skinning game, chopping down trees, to warding off hordes of zombies. It's my new camping knife. A pic for scale:

I got it from this guy:
TEDS

He's a buddy of mine, a Ka-Bar dealer, and all around good guy. Thinking about taking some of his classes as well.

Knice Knife! Nice design. I usually carry a Kershaw, and sometimes a Cold Steel SRK.

ETA: I just looked it up, and I don't believe it is.

Jack, it retails for around $100. I got it for considerably less. Let me know if you want one, I'll hook you up.

I wanna check that out. My last Kabar was hollow ground and I really prefer a flat or convex grind. If you run your finger down the blade from the spine to the edge you can tell. if it feels like it is sort of concave its a hollow ground blade (normally ground on a wheel). If it feels flat then its obviously a flet ground blade. You can also place something flat against it and look for light (a sharpening rod works well). if Jack gets one I'll check it out.

It's flat. Held the edge of a business card to it. Pulled out my granddad's old service Ka-Bar and I see what you're talking about.
